Rare Re-Imagined.
Rare was established in 2007 as “Rare Grill House” under ownership of Katie & Brad Watt. In summer of 2019 it was taken over by Kassy & Tyler Scott who re-branded the restaurant as simply “Rare”. After many changes + adaptations to keep the restaurant afloat during hard times for the industry, Kassy & Tyler Scott have decided to close the “traditional” restaurant chapter to pursue a more intentional project. Peterborough, ON is well known for its vibrant art and food scene. Kassy & Tyler are on a mission to inspire, educate and nourish their community by creating a stronger relationship with local food systems. They left the restaurant industry to take care of their mental health and to pursue a deeper, more meaningful connection to the culinary arts.
Rare will host an array of different events aimed at bringing the community together through their love for local ingredients. You can expect pop-up food events, community events, backdoor goods for retail (frozen meals, preserves + dehydrated food), culinary seminars taught by Chef Tyler Scott, local collaborations, intimate tasting dinners + more.
